Friends? Do you need to cut people off?

First, follow j.j._powell on instagram for my writing!
On Thursday evening when I finished serving on duty I went to the movies. I went to see the inappropriately funny Good Boys - I was not sure what the movie was going to be about 100% but what I did know was that it would have some form of a sad/emotional ending. I cannot wait until there is a movie that rolls around where I can have a break from the emotional twist (maybe I just want to laugh). While I am not particularly a fan of comedy movies that add another twist to it, but for the first time ever I was shocked and found myself enjoying the emotional aspect of the three boys dealing with their overarching friendship issues. I think overall it is a good movie and I think that everyone should have a moment to see the movie because it is great. While I want to make a plug for the movie something else came up for me and I have been trying to process it for a couple of days now that it has passed.
I have always been a firm believer that not all friendships are long lasting, but of course there are few friendships that will last forever. I have always said that friendships are not long lasting because sometimes being around the same people for a long time can be detrimental to the growth of individuals. While I still have somewhat of a belief that people should not spend time around the same people for their entire life - I now think that there has to be some purpose behind it all. I am not convinced that someone being your Day 1 is a valid purpose. There are a bunch of people who I have determined to be my “Day 1'' Friends `` but they have not been as useful in my life as some others. While some might think this is wrong to say I am just going to put into the space that while there are a lot of great things to come out of friendships, some people do look for something else to get from their friendships besides contact. If you have never heard of Love Languages - I would suggest that you give it a try. If you have never heard of the saying “It is not what you know, but who you know” - I want you to think about it just a tad more. All relationships have some form of give and take.
Now that my tangent is over...
In the movie Good Boys toward the end of the movie the three argued about how they were not going to be friends forever and pretty much dished all of the tea about each of their flaws. I began to shift uncomfortably in my seat as I thought about the relationships I missed because I thought we would have to stop being friends. While I think that the characters needed other friends to support some of the things they each individually wanted to do, the characters did very well to complement and support each other overall. Which I spent a lot of time thinking about that scene and tried to determine that maybe it was important for them to no longer be friends, but I was too stuck on the fact that it was not the truth for them. I am aware that this is a movie and some people may think that I am reading too much into the writing, but this is a movie and they reflect our lives sometimes. I think movies do a lot to help us realize what is happening for us and serves as a great message. I am not going to go too deep into my thoughts about friendship because I think that I should save them, but I would suggest people rethink the building of relationships.
While, I continue to ponder more on this topic I will probably turn it into a podcast I want to determine more of what people think about in the development of relationships. Maybe I will come to the realization that I am just some form of a judgemental/picky person when it comes to making new friends. I am not going to say I will make sure to change because I think my friend circle is quite great, but just a thought. LOL
Anyway go see the movie! Think about your friendships! Be great!
(Last plug, I plan to buy the movie when it is on DVD)
