Part 2 - Farewell 2018

Well, I hope that Part 1 was appealing to you as I gave a quick look into some of the things I dealt with this last year. I thought it was appropriate to share my Part 2, as I am ready to wind the year down into a peaceful place. Share my final thoughts and go into the new year hoping for new growth and more interesting blog pieces. As I plan those parts - also would like to share that a podcast is in the works - shhhhhh! Thanks for being a reader...enjoy my closing of 2018.
Part 2:
The Black Aftermath:
After much of my issues took place, I returned to Iowa for my second year of graduate school. Upon returning, there was nothing good happening. I was feeling attacked and those feelings had me torn. That blog definitely caught the eye of many people. Which was weird because the point of the blog was so oddly forced everyone to respond to me about it...immediately i thought to myself “You obviously did not understand my feelings, go read it again” but clearly I did not say that to anyone. The range of reactions proved how much some people are unaware of themselves and the space they take up around them. As those thoughts spiraled in my head, I did not feel the need to share with them the things that I addressed in the blog. I just left it where it was at and cleared the air with people who actually had valid and interesting questions. I will say that I am waiting for the numerous people who said they were “worried” about me to reach out and express their thoughts. You would think that people would reach out to someone who is assessing the lack of communication in his community. That would have been the best time to try and add to his network, but humans - do we expect everyone to have common sense?
I learned more about myself and others during that moment - I was able to move beyond the situation or at least learn how to treat the issue. I am going to encounter another moment like this at some point in life. Thankful to my connections who serve as sounding boards, mentors, loved ones, friends, supervisor, etc. To the others…
Rebuilding:
After the self-assessment of me happened, I realized it was time for me to make steps at fixing things that was important for me to be at peace. Even if it was a temporary peace - it was still better than things being rocky 24/7. I mended with friends, foes, colleagues, etc. I took the steps to make my life what it could be and not allow the problems I encounter regularly affect my day to day. During this period of rebuilding, I was serving in a position that was a lot of work and I can only imagine what things would have been like if I did not take time to assess and rebuild.
Lessons Learned:
Although emotions are valid things to explain yourself, sometimes people are not going to respond well to that.
Let people hear you, Don’t let them feel you.
Some people are so caught up in thinking of themselves first, or being sick and not having the capability to comprehend. So you can’t waste too much time talking.
Some people just will not change or it will take forever.
Yes, life is hard as hell but it is much harder when you make no effort. Regardless of it being something only you can imagine - it is important that you give yourself the things it deserve.
Think of yourself!
Having people that energize you and care about you is important. Usually they are the only ones who will tell you the truth about what you are experiencing.
Get rid of useless people who are not allowing you to be better!
2019 - New Year, New Me:
That is the opening to everything right, we all say it but often do not follow through. I cannot set goals anymore that will go nowhere. I have decided that maybe guiding my year with words will be somewhat of a useful option. Here is to hoping that my decision will work!
See you all in 2019 - New Year, New Blogs, New Thoughts, New Platform!
